Tips for hikers
In addition to the hiking trails of the youth hostels, there is a dense network of marked hiking trails in Luxembourg. Local path, national and European trails hiking trails lead through the Grand Duchy. There is something for all tastes and levels.
Organisation
The ideal tool for planning walking tours is the geographical portal of the cadastral administration in Luxembourg On this site you will find almost all tracks, including the paths of the youth hostels on the topographic map and GPS files can be downloaded.

Geocaching
Modern Outdoor GPS devices allow a not only find the right path, but also to go on hunting and discover the tour playfully. All our trails have a Geocache, a so-called Multi. The majority geocaches were elaborated during a European Volunteer Program.

National trails are multi-day treks across the country up to 68 km. On the road, you will find plenty of youth hostels. Most trails of the youth hostels pass through the well-marked roads.

The Mullerthal Trail and other local hiking trails of the region
On a length of 110 km, the Mullerthal Trail with its 3 tours passes through all the natural particularities of the Mullerthal Region – Luxembourg’s Little Switzerland. 2 of the trails pass Echternach, the cultural and touristic center of the region. Natural paths lead through forests and pastures and can be combined with impressive canyons and bizarre rock formations. There are also a huge number of well-marked local footpaths which help you to discover the beautiful region.

Escap Ardennes
This trail exists since 2012 and runs through the heart of the Belgian and Luxembourgish Ardennes with 104 km from La Roche-en-Ardenne (B) to Kautenbach (L). You just have to follow the signs with the white wave on a blue background. Several loops are also signposted.

The guide "201 selected walks in Luxembourg" shows you some walking tours across the Grand-Duchy with a distance of 4 to 16 km. The starting points are easily joinable by car. The guide is available in nearly every bookstore in Luxembourg.

Maps
Depending on the region, detailed maps are available. Otherwise, topographic maps available at the Land Registry and Topography of Luxembourg are ideal for hiking. For hiking, it is best to use the tourist publishing with a scale of 1:20.000.
