The point of this ranking is to encourage a country to take better care of its environment. Countries are given a number between 0 to 100 as their EPI (Environment Performance Index). The higher the number, the more environment-friendly they are. Using 40 performance indicators across 11 issue categories, the EPI ranks 180 countries on climate change performance, environmental health, and ecosystem vitality. Here’s the list of the current top 20 cleanest countries in the world.
