Discovery of the Slate Museum
The Slate Museum in Martelange, on the Belgian border, offers an educational programme with various workshops for groups and school classes. Participants discover the slate industry in an extraordinary location that bears witness to the industrial revolution. The day programme is adapted to the age of the children.
Half-day programme (3 hours):

The afternoon programme can include the following topics:
– Creative work in slate (medallion, engraving, etc.)
– Slate and its properties
– Geology of the Ardennes and Luxembourg
– Carbide lamp
– Steam engine (from secondary school age)
– Typewriter
– Dry stone walls
– Transport of slate
– Storytelling and map reading

Access: To facilitate access, we recommend you arrive with your own bus. Should you not have your own bus, we can organise the transfer with a bus company.
General information: Please wear sturdy shoes and warm clothes (only 9°C in the cave). Programme can only be booked in combination with meals and/or accommodation. For extern groups an additional administration fee of 20 € will be charged.
