‘Lëtzebuerg – dat ass Vakanz’ - Restart tourism!

09.07.2020

Tourism was a key industry in Luxembourg prior to the pandemic. In order to re-establish travelling and visiting Luxembourg, a new campaign ‘Restart Luxembourg’ has been issued by the ministry of tourism and its head Lex Delles. So why travel far when you can stay in Luxembourg and enjoy its beauty?

A 50 Euro voucher for your overnight in Luxembourg

In order to incite people to practice staycations in Luxembourg, a 50 Euro voucher will be given to every citizen and cross-border worker aged 16 and up. These 700.000 vouchers can be used to pay for an overnight stay in hotels, youth hostels, rentals and campsites around the country. The vouchers are nominal and can thus only be used by the person whose name is on it. Two vouchers can be combined for example if the two persons stay in one hotel room. If the cost of the stay is less than 50 Euros, the surplus value cannot be refunded. The voucher is valid from the 15th of July to the 31st of December 2020 in the establishments listed on www.100thingstodo.lu.

If you’d like to stay at one of the nine youth hostels of the Grand-Duchy, two interesting packages are proposed to book a complete stay:

  • One overnight stay including full board at the youth hostel of your choice
  • Two overnight stays including breakfast at the youth hostel of your choice

More than beds – activities for everyone at the youth hostels

The nine youth hostels in Luxembourg not only offer accommodation for the whole family at affordable prices, but also a wide range of activities. Cycling and hiking remain two of the main pillars of our exciting package deals. So if you like outdoor sports, why not rent bicycles or explore the country on foot from hostel to hostel for some youth hostel hopping. On top of that, if you explore the countryside whilst respecting the social distancing measure, your health will be grateful!

We are delighted to announce that also our leisure infrastructures are open again. In Lultzhausen for example, the youth hostel offers kayak, canoe or stand-up-paddling tours on the Upper Sûre lake. In Echternach, the climbing wall and trampolines are open again for sports lovers. The indoor playgrounds in Beaufort and Lultzhausen as well as the bowling alley in Beaufort are also welcoming their small guests again to let off some steam. And if it’s your child’s birthday, why not book a whole fun package at the youth hostel with a cake, beverages and a large range of activities to choose from at the youth hostel of your choice? Your kid will surely have a fabulous birthday.

Guide for one day

Another interesting concept is the initiative #GuideForOneDay, offering residents who have recently settled in Luxembourg and everyone interested, a series of tours which are original and above all authentic. By focusing on a participatory approach, the project brings together communities that meet little in everyday life. This concept is a great way to discover new aspects about the country and experience Luxembourg in a different way from July. 20th to September 13th. Thus #GuideForOneDay is not seeking professionals, but volunteers of all ages, of all nationalities and from all horizons, to become ambassadors for Luxembourg and share their knowledge.
