GoGo VELO starts with the mission ‘Ride me to the moon’ !

01.05.2025

Following the success of the first edition of GoGo VELO, which set out to circumnavigate ‘Around the world in 42 days’ in 2024, the national cycling campaign has set its sights even higher.

The new mission is called 'Ride me to the moon'. The aim is for all participants to cycle a total of 384,400 kilometres (the average distance between the Earth and the Moon). At the same time, a team competition will be organised among Luxembourg's secondary schools and the University of Luxembourg, which can form their own teams. The main objective of the GoGo VELO campaign - an initiative of ProVelo asbl and Climate Alliance Lëtzebuerg with the support of the Ministry of Mobility and Public Works - is of course to further promote and establish the bicycle as an everyday means of transport.

All participants are encouraged to use the bicycle as much as possible for everyday and leisure travel. To motivate them, the campaign will once again feature exciting challenges that, if successfully completed, will qualify participants for a price draw with great rewards! You can even win a stay in Luxembourg’ youth hostels.

Some of the prices to be won are free admission to the wellness centre, vouchers, a mini gold bar or tickets for concerts! The full list of prices and their sponsors can be found on www.gogovelo.lu and in the app.

To participate, cyclists need to download the Radbonus II app and register with the access code 'gogovelo'. In a second step, students, their parents and teachers can choose a team for which they want to collect cycling kilometres.

During the ride, simply start the app with the tracking button - from 22 April to 31 May, the kilometres cycled will automatically be added to the overall mission, all available challenges and, if applicable, the pre-selected team.

Participants will also be able to use the app to rate the condition of cycling infrastructure and help improve it - a commitment that will definitely pay off!

By the way, a second GoGo VELO campaign is planned for the autumn. Municipalities and regions will then be able to add their own local challenges to the national campaign.

More information about the campaign is now available at www.gogovelo.lu and in the Radbonus II app!
