Discover Europe at the Schengen Museum

European history was made here in the border triangle of Luxembourg, France and Germany. On 14 June 1985, representatives from Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands, France and Germany signed the Schengen Agreement on board the passenger ship M.S. Princesse Marie-Astrid. The agreement was one of the most important steps on the road to European unification: the abolition of internal European border controls on the movement of people and goods between the signatories. Schengen is considered the cradle of a borderless Europe: travelling easily from one country to another without border formalities, whether on foot, by bicycle or by car. Find out how this came about and why it is so important today.

Our official tour guides will show you, among other things:

  • Visit to the historic ship Princess Marie-Astrid Europa
  • Monument to the Schengen Agreement
  • Columns of Nations
  • Berlin Wall
  • Flags of the Schengen area
