As part of ‘Vienna in Luxembourg’, the City of Luxembourg, in collaboration with the Austrian Embassy, invites the capital’s restaurants and cafés to a week full of Austrian delights. Around Austria’s National Day on 26 October, specialities and menus showcase the diversity of Austrian cuisine. From 26 October to 1 November, the youth hostel in the capital is also hosting an Austrian week in its restaurant.
The weekly menu costs €15 for members and €17 for non-members.
- Monday, 26.10: Backhendl (Austrian-style fried chicken), pan-fried potatoes, poppy seed cake
- Tuesday, 27.10 (Veggie Day): Kaspressknödel (cheese dumplings), Kaiserschmarrn (shredded pancake) with plum compote
- Wednesday, 28.10: breaded pikeperch fillet with remoulade sauce, rice, Apfelstrudel (apple strudel)
- Thursday, 29.10: Viennese sausages (Luxembourg meat), potato salad, apricot dumplings
- Friday, 30.10: beef goulash (regional meat) with carrots, fresh spätzle and Sachertorte
- Saturday, 31.10: Austrian-style meatloaf (regional meat) with charcutière sauce, Schupfnudeln (potato noodles), dessert of your choice
- Sunday, 01.11: Sunday menu for €22 (€20 for members): Wiener Schnitzel of veal (regional meat), French fries, chocolate Linzer tart with blackberry jam
Vegetarian menu of the week: Käsespätzle (cheese spätzle) with crispy fried onions
