The Luxembourg youth hostels association is now part of the European Youth Card
Since 1 January 2026, the ‘Carte Jeunes’ (also known as the European Youth Card, or EYCA) has had a new operator. The youth hostel association is now responsible for administering and developing this popular discount and benefits programme for young people aged 12 to 30.
The European Youth Card is becoming even more accessible
A historic partnership promoting youth mobility
The youth hostel association and the European Youth Card have a long-standing collaborative history. Several years ago, the two organisations worked closely together: anyone who joined the youth hostel association was automatically issued with a Youth Card. This successful partnership demonstrated the strong alignment of their missions and values. Integrating this project marks a new stage in the partnership. It strengthens the existing synergy and establishes the Youth Card as a valuable resource for young people in Luxembourg, supporting them in their travels, commitments, and engagement with Europe.
What is the European Youth Card?
The ‘Carte Jeunes’ is part of the European Youth Card (EYCA) network, which has over 8 million members in more than 40 countries. It offers access to thousands of discounts and benefits in Luxembourg and across Europe. From culture and sport to travel, training and shopping, this card opens the door to unforgettable experiences at affordable prices.
Since integrating with the youth hostel association, the Youth Card has strengthened its position in serving young people. Now priced at €10 (down from €12), the card is also available via a mobile app for added convenience. The Youth Card is aimed at young people living in Luxembourg or within a 30-kilometre radius, while strengthening its position within the European youth network.

More than just discounts
The Youth Card offers much more than just discounts. It allows young people to explore Europe, experience new cultures and participate in social activities.
The youth hostel association has many initiatives planned for 2026, including:
- Events and workshops aimed at promoting European exchanges.
- Expanded partnerships with local businesses and cultural institutions.
- Stronger networking with European EYCA organisations.
- Programmes such as DiscoverEU, which offer free travel across Europe.
