Youth hostel in Hollenfels

Solidarity with the Ukraine

Our youth hostel will stay closed to the general public for the time being. Not due to the pandemic, but because we consider it absolutely essential to help refugees in need of shelter and a warm meal. We have therefore decided to support the local governmental bodies in accommodating our fellow human beings from the Ukraine. It’s an endeavour that’s not only near to our hearts, but an important part of our mission.

You can also do something to help those affected by the war by donating money to one of the many charitable organisations. One of these is Caritas Luxembourg, which can be reached under the following link: www.caritas.lu

Why not combine an affordable lodging with being the master of the castle? Nothing could be simpler because the youth hostel Hollenfels with its view of the castle offers to the backpackers, groups and families captivating experiences in the mystical valley of the seven castles.

In the heart of the ‘Guttland’ or ‘good country’ extending to the gates of the capital city, lies the charming village of Hollenfels. But what exactly has this small village to offer to its visitors? It’s located in the centre of the Grand-Duchy on a rise above the valley of the Eisch. Its landmark is a fortress from the 14th century with a 40 metre high keep – a very unique monument indeed for this region of the country. The youth hostel Hollenfels is located opposite this mystical fortress and is thus the perfect starting point for a discovery hike through the valley of the seven castles – on foot, by bike, alone as a backpacker or in the company of your family or a group. Nowhere else will you find in Luxembourg such a high density of medieval buildings than in the valley of the seven castles, one of the most important touristic highlights of the country. In this region, the visitor will find the castles of Mersch, Schoenfels, Ansembourg and Koerich as well as the fortresses of Ansembourg, Septfontaines and the already mentioned fortress of Hollenfels. Why not plan a holiday full of experiences and sporty activities in the nature or simply spend a few relaxing days in the ‘Guttland’?

The youth hostel Hollenfels fits 86 visitors per night throughout the whole year in its rooms at an affordable rate. The showers are located on the ground floor, toilets can be found on every floor. The youth hostel also has a craft room as well as three common rooms at the disposal of the groups for their activities and meetings.

At the ‘Melting Pot’, the inhouse restaurant of the youth hostel, the chef as well as his team take care of the pleasures of the palate of their guests. The meals are prepared with fresh and seasonal ingredients and with loving attention to the detail. Tourists as well as local residents are welcome here to savour the daily special or order a dish from the menu upon request. When the sun is shining, the lovely terrace with a beautiful view of the castle welcomes its visitors.
