Climbing courses for children aged 5-12

In response to the great demand from climbing fans, the team of trainers at Echternach youth hostel organize once again the popular climbing courses for kids interested in sports - for beginners as well as advanced climbers - after the summer holidays. A new feature is that the courses will now be organized in trimesters and will take place from 22 September 2022 to 30 March 2023 - i.e. for a whole two trimesters. Those aged from 5 to 7 and from 8 to 12 can are welcome to discover the 14-metre-high indoor climbing wall of the youth hostel Echternach. The mini-koalas course takes place on Thursdays from 13 to 14 o’clock and from 14.15 to 15.15 o’clock. The course for the older children is from 15:30 to 17:00 o’clock.

The places are limited. Please register in advance.

Requirements:
The course is intended for children aged from 5 to 7 years as well as from 8 to 12 years. No prior experience in climbing is required.

Sessions:
2 trimesters: Thursdays from 13:00 to 14:00 (mini-koala), from 14:15 to 15:15 (mini-koala) and from 15:30 to 17:00 (8-12 years old one’s)

Attention: No courses will take place during Luxembourgish school holidays. The course will not take place during the 3rd trimester.

Price per child for a total of 2 trimesters:

  • 306 (Price for members of the youth hostels*)

Gourmet hike through and around Larochette

On Sunday 2nd October, the 11th edition of the Gourmet hike will take place in Larochette. 5 courses - 10.7 km - 100% pleasure.

Between 10.00 and 11.30 am, participants can start at the Centre culturel ‘an der Kleederfabrek’ and have until 5.30 pm to taste their way through the 5 courses. The youth hostel Larochette is responsible for the 2nd course - here you can enjoy a delicious pumpkin soup.

Guided day hike around Echternach with dinner

On Saturday, the 15th of October, the animation team of the youth hostels invites you to a day hike around the oldest town of the country - Echternach. On the programme: a guided tour of approx. 20 km with highlights such as the Aquatower, the mill of Consdorf, Scheidgen, the lake of Echternach and the beautiful rocky landscape of the. Start and finish of the tour is at the youth hostel.

The tour is suitable for experienced hikers who are used to walking longer distances at an average pace of 4 km per hour. After the hike, participants will be served a 3-course dinner in the ‘Melting Pot’ restaurant at the youth hostel.

Places are limited, so prior registration is compulsory.

Open Door at youth hostel Larochette

Finally, the time has come! The renovation works of youth hostel Larochette have been completed and therefore the team of the hostel invites to an Open Door on Saturday, the 22nd of October.

A brand-new playground accessible to youth hostel guests, but also to residents and visitors of Larochette, a shelter for bicycles, new sanitary areas and newly designed double rooms and bungalows await guests. But above all, the youth hostel now also has a modern reception with a small bistro. The latter is open daily and invites young and old for a drink or a snack.

Anyone who is curious should not miss the Open Door.

Spooky night hike on Halloween through Beaufort

This year, Halloween is once again all about scary stories, pumpkins and an exciting journey through the darkness. On Monday, 31st of October, when the last rays of the sun disappear behind the horizon, Beaufort youth hostel invites families to a legendary Halloween hike (4 km) with pumpkin carving. After the hike, stick bread is made at the campfire and pumpkin soup is served. The starting point and destination of the guided tour is Beaufort youth hostel. Families with children are welcome to this activity. The hike is not suitable for prams or people with mobility impairments. Dogs are unfortunately not allowed either.

Climbing camp for children in Echternach

To make sure that the All Saints holidays won’t be boring, the animation team of the youth hostel Echternach organises once again a climbing camp for children aged between 10 and 12 years.

Whether beginner or advanced – everyone is welcome to this camp. From Wednesday 2nd to Friday 4th of November, the youth hostel’s team of trainers will teach the children how to climb without any pressure to perform. The participants will try to conquer – under supervision - the 14-metre high indoor climbing wall of the youth hostel. The programme includes climbing, safety techniques, box climbing and cooperation games in the climbing hall.

Many other activities will also await the participants in the modern sports youth hostel located at Echternach lake, such as a games and film night and a campfire with marshmallow roasting.

Places are limited, so don’t miss out on this unique opportunity for your children.

Wellbeing-hiking tour between the holidays in Remerschen

After Christmas and before New Year's Eve, it's high time for some wellbeing. That’s why the youth hostels' animation team has come up with the perfect activity for body, mind and soul - a guided day tour through the beautiful Moselle region. On Tuesday, 27th of December will be held the fourth edition of the traditional wellbeing hiking tour between the holidays with a vegetarian menu as the crowning finale.

This year's tour takes us to the Moselle region with its numerous vineyards and nature reserves. So let your soul dangle and strain your legs. This medium-difficulty day tour for adults starts at the Remerschen youth hostel. The highlights of the tour are the Mediterranean gardens in Schwebsange and the nature reserves Kuebendällchen, Haff Réimech and Lamert. But the wide views over the border triangle, the vineyards in winter and of course the Moselle are also worth the effort. The guided 23 km tour is aimed at experienced hikers wanting to discover this region outside the typical hiking season and at the same time burn off calories before the turn of the year.

A well-deserved 4-course vegetarian dinner awaits the hikers at the end of the tour. Those who would like to turn their hiking tour into a weekend trip are welcome to reserve a bed at the youth hostel, as the Moselle is breath taking at any time of year.
