The history of the hiking trails of the youth hostels dates back to the year 1948. Back then, the first route led from Ettelbruck to Neumuhle.
Today the hiking trails link 9 modern youth hostels among one another across the country. All the trails are well signed, but we do recommend to always have a topographic map on you, on top of that, a compass comes in handy. If you like to be on the safe side and you are interested in recording distance, time and profile, you can take your outdoor GPS device along. Just download the GPS tracks on the following pages. With the GPS in your pocket, you could try to do the trails as “geocache” and find your treasure at the end.
The signs
Each hiking trail follows different signs, explications to this can be found on the following pages (download folders). Generally the trail follows the national hiking tracks, the CFL-trails or the Mullerthal Trail. The paths from the youth hostels to the trail are marked with the traditional white triangle on a blue background. In order to let you know when you’ve got to follow a different sign, signposts are clearly positioned indicating the destination, distance, direction and sign information.?
