While in 1985 the commune of Schengen became famous all over Europe because of the treaties that bear its name, the charming villages with their famous wine cellars have also attracted many visitors in the past. Our group hostel is well-placed for outdoor activities, such as hiking or excursions to the nearby sports and recreation area. The large, natural reserve of 'Haff Réimech' is also ideal for group trips, with its ponds, exceptional wild flowers and wildlife.
Accommodation and facilities
The spacious rooms of the youth hostel are located in a renovated convent and in an adjoining newly constructed extension. The youth hostel is situated in the heart of Remerschen, in the immediate vicinity of the bathing pond, the Moselle River and a nature reserve, and boasts a restaurant and a cafeteria with terrace, several conference rooms, common rooms and a garden with pond. 150 beds are divided in rooms with 1 to 5 beds each, all equipped with sanitary facilities.
Place and location
The Municipality of Schengen is located on the Moselle River directly in the tri-border area of Germany, France and Luxembourg. Bicycle shelters and parking places are available in the immediate vicinity of the hostel.
Other recreational attractions
Europe information centre on the Schengen Treaties, wine cellars, Malbrouck Castle, numerous walking and cycling paths, “Haff Rémiech” nature reserve, geocaching, bathing lake with lawn for sunbathing.
